I got up one morning a few weeks ago, while on a six week stay in Germany, and wondered where I was going. No, not with my career, that’s doing fine thank you. Not my marriage, no problems there.
It was something deeper. Much deeper.
If you decide to read this blog on a regular basis, you probably understand what I’m getting at. And if you’re a forty-something like me, you understand that you may hit these little stopping points more than once in your life. You see, faith isn’t just a one-time pass through God’s turnstyle and on the ride you go, though some have compared it to a roller-coaster. I won’t. That particular analogy has been over-used and is way too simplified.
The real journey of faith cannot be compared to any earthly adventure. There are, indeed, ups and downs. But there are also starts and stops, times of doubt, personal failings, and dark places in our hearts we’d really rather not expose. No one time experience in front of a talented minister is going to relinquish you of the difficult journey that really is the heart of Christianity.
This a great article by Ron over at Tweets@God . Faith is a journey, not a one stop shopping experience. Faith goes through many stages, ups and downs. We all need to start at one place, and then continue the journey through that one place…God.
