“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5 (NKJV)

“And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”  Acts 4:31 (NKJV)

A child is egocentric and full of Mine, Mine, Mine! As adults we (most of us) learn about the joy of giving to others. How then can we give to God? Empty all selfish ambition and ask Him what He wants us to do for Him. 

He gave us this life, why not use it for Him as a thank offering? When we lay EVERYTHING down, we leave an empty vessel for the Holy Spirit to fill. How much we surrender of our self will determine how much He can fill us with His Spirit.

If there is something you are holding on to that is hindering your walk, I encourage you to lay it down today. If you are honest with yourself, you will agree that it is a weight and it is taking up unnecessary space within your spirit. It is not helping your spiritual growth, maturity, and relationship with God.

Imagine that you are making soup with a big beef bone.  Once you remove that bone there is new space in the pot for you to add more nutrients that will satisfy and nourish your body. This is also true in the spiritual realm. By removing that useless temptation, sin, or old sorrow, new space will open up within your heart. Will you make more room inside today? Let the Spirit fill you completely so He can work and produce more of the fruit of the Spirit. This will enable you to bless many more, including your Savior.

Fill me up today with your Holy Spirit. I want to be an empty vessel, filled to the point of overflowing. May the fruit of the Spirit be evident in my life and give You much glory and praise. You know that which I am clinging to, and I ask right now for Your help in releasing it to Your care. I want to honor You with my every breath and action. May the Holy Spirit guide, counsel, direct, comfort, and help me in my desire to surrender ALL to You….now and forever more.
