NEW AGE DECEPTION

by Neil Anderson

April 19
1 Timothy 2:5
There is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

The fourth unifying factor of the New Age Movement is a cosmic evolutionary optimism . There is a New Age coming. There will be a new world order with a one-world government. New Agers believe in a progressive unification of world consciousness eventually reaching the “omega point.” This is a counterfeit kingdom and we know who its prince is.

Fifth, New Agers create their own reality . They believe they can determine reality by what they believe, so by changing what they believe, they can change reality. There are no moral absolutes because there is no distinction between good and evil.

Sixth, New Agers make contact with the kingdom of darkness . Calling a medium a “channeler” and a demon a “spirit guide” has not changed the reality of what they are. They are in contact with the god of this world instead of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Recently I received a call from a lady who was concerned about the turn of events in a small group she was attending. It had started out as a group of supposedly Christian women. The one woman began to function as a medium, and they thought they were hearing from God. They recorded six hours of videotape, and in that six hours, five different personalities can be identified in the medium. The group was convinced they were hearing from God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and two angels.

The lady functioning as a medium was later identified as not being a Christian. In the tape her eyes roll back in a trancelike state. At one point a voice says through her, “It’s going to snow here tomorrow.” I’m surprised that when it didn’t snow the next day, they couldn’t see the snow job being done on them!

How can a thinking person, professing to be a Christian, consider this as anything other than demonization? But it isn’t just lonely homemakers who are being deceived. This deception is invading every area of society today.

Prayer: Father, keep me alert to the deception of New Age thinking around me, and help me dismiss the darkness I encounter with the light of Your truth.

  1. Reblogged this on CLINGERS… BLOGGING BAD ~ DICK.G: AMERICAN ! and commented:
    GyG!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. What I wonder is how can a thinking person, professing to be a Christian, consider this POST as anything other than demonization? There’s nothing in it but opinion unsupported by fact, reason or an exegesis of the sole scriptural quote at the top, and no evidence except one anecdote about some small group of ladies engaging in cultish behavior. While I have compassion for their being misled by a charlatan, I can’t see why your ministry offers anything more than fear-mongering, and a different brand of ignorance.

    • Invisible Mikey, your comment is so far out of whack I’m not sure where to begin.
There is no “fear mongering” here, where you see that is beyond me. Maybe you ought to reread what was said in the post.
It is common knowledge that what Neil speaks of is true. New Agers do all these things and more.

The one example you refer to is a perfect example of “channeling”. This is against what the Bible teaches. So is the flawed concept of “being your own god”. The whole idea behind the New Age premise is to eliminate God replacing Him with a new one, yourself. This is directly from Satan who applauds all who take up this mantra.

The New Age mentality appeals to the baser nature of man, namely elevating one self above all others. We are made in God’s image to glorify Him not ourselves. Not many can say that they never struggle with the desire to glorify self (I can’t either), why do you think the New Age philosophies are so appealing and work so well with so many?

Satan is an extremely intelligent former high ranking angel of God out to destroy all he can and he is succeeding in large measure. Neil Anderson merely warns and educates people on what is going on in the world and the dangers of following anything or anyone other than Christ–there is NO fear mongering in that.

I and the other authors on this site do nor publish material that uses scare tactics, we seek to warn, educate, and encourage others. Time is short the end is not far off. We all have a choice in whether or not to follow Christ…He will not force Himself on anyone who does not desire to be with Him.

      • I wasn’t commenting about your belief system. I was pointing out the obvious as a READER, that this is a poor piece of op-ed writing, just a laundry list of what the author thinks is New Age, with no supporting evidence. Channeling isn’t a typical part of New Age. It’s spiritualism. They overlap at the edges, but ordinary New Agers would consider mediums to be totally “woo-woo”. The author obviously hasn’t either done real research into New Age, or had much experience of current mainstream culture. Everything listed in his two posts is stuff that peaked in the 80s, 30 years ago, and has been dwindling or changing since. It’s someone’s ignorant outside peek at a now-nonexistent problem. That’s why it’s fear-mongering. People are in danger today, from demagogues, and those who profess they know about things but don’t.

        • Nonexistent problem??? What rock are you living under?

Go take a look on the web…channeling and many other things are alive and well. Today they call them spirit guides, or the divine mother or a gazillion other things. Lets keep New Agers separate…same difference, it all comes from Satan.

We will have to agree to disagree.

  3. It is also important to investigate how the power centers of our culture are trying to bring together New Age ideas with science:
