A Comparison Between Islam And Christianity

islam and christianity

El Shaddai (God Almighty) and Allah, who is real and who is right? Who should you follow and dedicate your life to?

Islam is labeled as the religion of peace, but is it really?

The Quran (the holy book of the Islamic faith) espouses hatred and violence in many places. The Christian Bible also speaks of violence as well. The difference is that in the Bible there were peoples and places God specifically commanded be destroyed in the Old Testament, violence is no longer commanded or encouraged. In the Quran, violence is open ended meaning the violence commanded by Allah is to occur even today. Look at one of the opening verses in the Quran; the tone of treatment towards people who do not follow Allah is set already:

Surah 1:7 The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger (such as the Jews), nor of those who went astray (such as the Christians).

It was not always this way, in 622CE Muhammad made a treaty between the non-Muslim Arabs and the Jews and the Muslims having moved from Mecca to Medina. Each party was pledged to help the other, Muhammad having the final say in all things.

“The Jews shall be responsible for their expenses and the Believers for theirs. Each, if attacked, shall come to the assistance of the other.”

The following verses in the Quran clearly state to kill those who do not follow Islam. Worshiping Jesus in a Muslim nation is grounds to have your property taken away, to be beaten, and to be killed. One need only read today’s news to see this is true.

Surah 2:191 And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.

Surah 2:193 And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression.

Surah 2:216 Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.

What does the Bible have to say about those who do not follow Christ or are our enemies?

Matthew 5:43-46 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Romans 12:18-21 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Clearly the Word of God says to pray for our enemies, for those who have hurt us, oppressed us or harmed us in any way. There is no command to kill them or even harm them in any way. Rather we are to pray for them and do them no harm regardless of what they do to us.

When the Pharisees were stoning Stephen to death, he prayed that the Lord would forgive them…incredible. Acts 7:59-60

When the Romans crucified Jesus Christ who is God Himself…He prayed to the Father that He would forgive them for doing so. Luke 23:34

What are the main points of the Bible and the Quran?

The Bible teaches we are to love God who gave us life and paid the price of our sins Himself in the person of Jesus. John 3:16, John 13:34, Jude 1:21

The Bible teaches forgiveness for all no matter what they have done to us. Matthew 6:14

The Bible teaches love Mark 12:31, Luke 6:35, 1 John 4:7, Ephesians 4:2

The Bible shows us how to treat others: Luke 6:31 Andas ye wouldthatmen should do to you, doyealso to themlikewise.

The Quran teaches to kill those who do not adhere to Islam:

Surah 5:33 The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement.

Surah 8:12 When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them

The Quran teaches adherents to be violent towards those who do not believe as they do and glorifies it:

Surah 4:95 Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward.

Surah 9:29 Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. (People of the Book are Christians and Jews)

A Hadith of Islam – Bukhari (8:387) – Allah’s Apostle said, “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah’. And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally.”

The Quran teaches that killing a family member is ok under certain circumstances:

Quran (18:65-81) – This parable lays the theological groundwork for honor killings, in which a family member is murdered because they brought shame to the family, either through apostasy or perceived moral indiscretion. The story (which is not found in any Jewish or Christian source) tells of Moses encountering a man with “special knowledge” who does things which don’t seem to make sense on the surface, but are then justified according to later explanation. One such action is to murder a youth for no apparent reason (74). However, the wise man later explains that it was feared that the boy would “grieve” his parents by “disobedience and ingratitude.” He was killed so that Allah could provide them a ‘better’ son. (Note: This is one reason why honor killing is sanctioned by Sharia. Reliance of the Traveler (Umdat al-Saliq) says that punishment for murder is not applicable when a parent or grandparent kills their offspring (o.1.1-2).)

The Christian Law of Love and Islamic Sharia Law

The Christian Law of Love is simple really. Christ said we are to follow two commands that all the law and the teachings of the prophets hang upon:

Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him,Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

How can everything hang on these two commands? Simple: if we love the Lord our God with everything we have we will do as He says. Second, if we love our neighbor (meaning all people) as ourselves, we will do no harm to them—no killings, no insults, no fighting, no lying, no defaming them, no hating…

How about Islam? We have seen already that the holy books of Islam specify subjugation, harm, and killing of those who do not follow Islam.

Sharia Law:

Jihad, defined as “to war against non-Muslims to establish the religion,” is the duty of every Muslim and Muslim head of state (Caliph). Muslim Caliphs who refuse jihad are in violation of Sharia and unfit to rule.

A Caliph is exempt from being charged with serious crimes such as murder, adultery, robbery, theft, drinking and in some cases of rape.

It is obligatory to obey the commands of the Caliph, even if he is unjust.

A Muslim who leaves Islam must be killed immediately.

Sharia dictates death by stoning, beheading, amputation of limbs, flogging even for crimes of sin such as adultery.

Non-Muslims are not equal to Muslims under the law. They must comply with Islamic law if they are to remain safe. They are forbidden to marry Muslim women, publicly display wine or pork, recite their scriptures or openly celebrate their religious holidays or funerals. They are forbidden from building new churches or building them higher than mosques. They may not enter a mosque without permission. A non-Muslim is no longer protected if he leads a Muslim away from Islam.

There is no age limit for marriage of girls. The marriage contract can take place anytime after birth and can be consummated at age 8 or 9.

God or Allah?

So whom will you follow? The God (Jesus) of love or the god (Allah) of hate?
Jesus:

Gave Himself for us – John 3:16

Loves us – Romans 5:5, John 3:16, 1 John 4:19, Romans 5:8

Intercedes for us – Romans 8:1-39, 1 Timothy 2:5, John 10:10, Hebrews 7:25

Allah:

Commands all adherents to fight and kill non-believers – Surah 9:29

Adherents who fight are better than those who do not – Surah 4:95

Loves all who; fight for him, spend their money in his cause, obey him.

The love of Allah is conditional, IF you fight for him, judge rightly, persevere, trust him…there is always a condition.

Two choices; follow God who commands His followers to love and pray for all people including those who do not follow Him, or follow Allah who commands his followers to maim and kill those who do not follow him.

Jesus and judgment

We all are sinful; we all have broken God’s laws.

Have you ever lied?

Ever hated someone? (Same as murder according to Jesus)

Looked on someone with lust?

Used God’s name in vain?

Dishonored your parents?

Stolen something?

The punishment for breaking God’s laws is death. Not physical death but permanent spiritual death, separation from God forever in Hell.

Yet God in the person of a man; Jesus Christ, came here and first taught us about Himself, then willingly died for us so that we do not have to. Jesus took our punishment for us in accordance with His Father’s will.

Those who believe in Jesus will be judged based on what they did for God in life and need have no fear of the second death, permanent separation from God. Unbelievers are judged already because they do not believe in God (Jesus). Those whose names are not in the Book of Life (known by Jesus) will be judged for their deeds in the flesh and thrown in the Lake of Fire (Hell).

All who come to Christ in faith will be forgiven. The precious blood of Christ shed on the cross pays for all sins for all people, if they come to Him believing in Him and repenting of their sins. It is never too late to do so and there is no sin you cannot be forgiven for except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

  1. I am so glad you went to all the work to put this together and post it. I was totally shocked to hear a Christian say that Allah is God and the Muslim religion is about peace and only the radicals promote violence. She has been convinced that Allah is just another name for our God Almighty. “Political correctness” and the media has distorted the truth and many are believing it. Thank you so much for this post. I will definitely share it.

  2. Hi Greg,
Thank you for sharing this very enlightening article. God bless you!

  3. Thanks Greg, for a much needed explanation of the difference. Too many are being deceived to believe there is no basic difference: that only the ‘radicals’ are different, as are a handful of ‘Christian’ radicals.

I am appalled at the number of so-called Chrislam churches operating in America. While I am not aware of any such Churches here, I am well aware of the ‘religion’ of political correctness which excuses and accepts false teachings and ‘tolerance’.

    • Hi Angela,

Yes there are far too many who do not realize the significance of Islam coming to the U.S. and it is not good. Number one on the agenda, Islam rules at all costs and killing, torture, and and all kinds of mayhem are acceptable. Lying to a non-Muslim is also acceptable. Those who do not fight or at least support those who do are at risk especially when the country is closer to being run by the Muslims. Anyone doubts this they need only look at the goings on in Iran to learn the truth.

Dearborn MI is under Muslim influence…people touting Jesus had stones and other things thrown at them and the police pretty much looked the other way.

      • We are usually a little behind America. One thing very noticeable here is that charges of discrimination are constantly being levelled at Aussies who try to uphold their right to practice Christianity or who speak mildly against Muslims and others, and yet they are free to speak VERY harshly against Christians and demand that they are being discriminated against if anyone so much as wishes them a Happy Christmas or wears a cross or in any way shows their belief.
