Jesus said, “If ye love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).
Your spiritual train runs on two rails. One is revelation and the other is obedience. If either rail stops, your train stops. That’s why I encourage everyone to have a regular time alone with God. We need time to dig into the Word of God and receive His revelation. And we also need time to work out what we learn.
So, what’s going to happen when you start to have a daily time alone with God? Will you see an instant change? Well, I don’t know. That all depends on God. I believe you’ll see some change right away, but don’t expect anything radical and dramatic.
It’s like when a person wants to get into good physical shape. As they eat right and exercise regularly, they’ll lose weight and tone their muscles. But they will do this little by little. Usually there’s not a dramatic change overnight.
If you get on a daily regimen of getting into the Word of God and exercising your spiritual muscles through obedience, then you’ll see change. It may not be dramatic overnight. But in the long run, it will change you for eternity.
