Exodus 20:15 says, “Thou shalt not steal.” Well, what kind of stealing is God talking about? I believe He is referring to any form of stealing, including half-hearted stealing. Let me explain.
You work for an employer and don’t give him an honest day’s labor. Well, you’ve stolen from him. Colossians 3:22 says, “Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God.”
If you don’t fear God enough to give an honest day’s work, you have broken the commandment that says “Thou shalt not steal.”
I heard about a man who applied for a job and asked the prospective employer, “What will you pay me?” He said, “I’ll pay you what you’re worth.” The man responded, “Oh, no, no, no. Nothing doing. I just quit a job making more than that.”
There are a lot of people being paid more than they are worth. God sees when you don’t earn what you get paid for. This is going on all over the land. It is a form of stealing.
