Have you ever gotten the idea that if you live according to God’s laws, you’re going to miss out? The truth is if you don’t live according to God’s law, you’re going to miss out!
I hear young people talking today about “going all the way.” Well, that’s the one thing they don’t do! They don’t go all the way. They don’t make that last commitment and experience the fulfillment and joy of a monogamous marriage. Oh, there is such ravishing love that comes from one man committed to one woman until death do them part!
God’s laws are for your welfare. He is not some tyrant sitting in heaven, making a bunch of laws to make you squirm like a worm in hot ashes trying to keep those laws. God loves you! God’s laws are for your welfare!
Every time God says, “Thou shalt not,” He is simply saying, “Don’t hurt yourself.” And every time God says, “Thou shalt,” God simply says, “Help yourself to happiness.” God is not trying to keep sex from you. He’s trying to keep sex for you. It is God’s wonderful gift to husband and wife.
That’s the reason God says, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, that whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matthew 5:27-28). And that’s the reason God says, “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man does is without the body; but he that commits fornication sins against his own body” (1Corinthians 6:18).
God says these things because He has something so wonderful for you. He wants you to have a lasting, loving marriage.
