Using The Gifts God Gave Us

God is omniscient. He is all knowing, all seeing, and knowledgeable beyond our comprehension. He is the Creator of all things. There is no limit to His creativity. He is the author of music, language, mathematics, the sciences, and art. He is limitless in power and vision.
As His children, we too are creative by nature. Have you not wondered why we invent, create, build, transform, conceive, and shape new things? It is because God made us in His image and He is the Great Creator. (Genesis 1-3)
Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.Genesis 1:26-27 (NKJV)
Dr. Howard Gardner, a professor of education at Harvard University, developed the theory of multiple intelligences. He suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. I agree with his theory. https://mypersonality.info/multiple-intelligences/
There are eight multiple intelligences: musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. If you take a minute to consider the different jobs held by our population, you will become acutely aware of the necessary strengths, or intelligences, necessary to successfully function within each career or position.
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.1 Corinthians 12:11 (NKJV)
The physical accomplishments of some athletes will take our breath away. Wave surfers, mountain climbers, swimmers, divers, football players, gymnasts and Olympians inspire and motivate us to be our very best. But then, so do the musicians of our day… and from the past. Art exhibits, novels, mathematic theories, and scientific discoveries all serve to better mankind. They inspire us to think more, do more, give more.
Unfortunately, the devil likes to defile God’s gifts within us. Our talents ought to be used to glorify God, but the enemy wants none of that! So, our knowledge and abilities are twisted by sin to serve our greed, need for power, desire for recognition, and selfish pride.
Music is for the glorification of God but Satan has deceived some musicians into composing sounds that praise him instead. Medicines that would benefit many people is unavailable because of the greed of pharisaical companies. Sin taints what God provides freely.
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV)
If you are planting a garden, do it onto the Lord. Let it be a blessing to others by sharing your produce with others. If you are a gifted athlete, volunteer to serve as a coach and teach others what you know. Are you a musician? Why not join the worship team at church?
Some of you reading these words might be saying, “I have no gift or talent.” That is not true! Your talent is probably obvious to those around you? Ask them. Are you a good cook? Share your talent of hospitality and feed the hungry. Do you know how to fix cars? There are many widows and single ladies out there who would be blessed by your talents. Are you a good listener? There are many lonely folks in nursing homes who would love a visit! Do you have a way with animals? Why not bring a therapy dog to a hospital?
The bottom line is that God has given us many talents and gifts. We have different intelligences and we ought to be using them to bless others and glorify God.
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV)
