To Be Honest With God
Sometimes I will get into a disagreement with my wife. We’ll be sitting at the kitchen table, it will get tense, and Joyce will say, “Adrian, you’re wrong.” And I’ll respond, “No, I’m not wrong.” She says, “You are wrong, but I can’t prove you’re wrong, because you can talk better than I can. But I know you’re wrong.” I say, “Oh, I’m not wrong.” It gets tense and I just say, “Well, let’s just stop for a while.”
I go to my study and try to prepare a sermon. I try to read or do something and I can’t. So I say, “Lord, did you see what went on in there?” He says, “Yeah, you were wrong.” “Me?” “Yeah, you.” So I have to go back and say, “Honey, I was wrong.” She says, “I forgive you.”
Prayer will do that, friend. You get honest with God and let God speak to you. If you’re married, your marriage will stay together as you live out that commitment with His power, love, and grace.
says, “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.”
