It is not ours to pick and choose what we believe or disbelieve in the Bible. It is also not ours to choose the Jesus we believe in, or the God we desire to believe. It is not ours to make God into the image of what we feel comfortable with.
It is ours to believe the words of the Bible, all of the Bible – written by men; directed and inspired by God. It is ours to believe in Jesus and God the Father as represented by the Word, God’s own words to describe Himself to us His people.
It is ours to be molded and changed, as Jesus sees fit to do. It is ours to accept the Lordship of Christ in our lives.
We don’t make God into our image, God made us in His image. We don’t change God into what we desire Him to be in order to fit our needs – God changes us to fit His needs and desires for us – that we may become what He intended for us to be in Him.
If you have to change Him, then you don’t know Him. If you disagree with and disbelieve in His Word, then you are a not a child of His, rather you are a child of the god of this world.
