Ever since the Corona Virus came on the scene global chaos has exploded. Getting reliable and truthful information regarding infection rates and death stats is nearly impossible. The news media and our government officials are not 100% trustworthy, lacking the integrity of unbiased reporting. So-called conspiracy theories (or are they?) are on the rise. Political unrest compounds our confusion (Afghanistan, Iraq, China, Russia) adding the ingredient of fear to our feelings of depression and anxiety. Does this sound like heaven to you? No way!
The Bible provides many prophecies regarding the times before Christ’s return for His church. We are experiencing the “birth pains” mentioned in Matthew 24. Does this mean we stop living for Christ? I think not, we are not turtles! We should not hide our heads and sulk inside our homes. We are to live every day looking for opportunities to serve and help others.
“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” Matthew 24:6-8 (NIV)
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV)
Christians are told to share the Good News. Unfortunately, when we do share the Gospel, we encounter scoffers. This is prophesied in 2 Peter 3. An increase of wickedness is present today and when advocates of abortion speak out, it is evident their love has grown cold. Many believers have been deceived by evil spirits who like tickling ears. An increase of earthquakes and natural disasters is evident and there is a pestilence running ramped called Covid-19.
“Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ He promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”
2 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV)
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”
Matthew 24:12 (NIV)
“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” 1 Timothy 4:1 (NIV)
“There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.” Luke 21:11 (NIV)
The devil is working hard to sow his lies. From these lies, fear and chaos are erupting. Feelings of depression, anxiety, and doubt are hitting some believers so hard they are leaving the church. They are asking, “Where is God?” He is among us, friend!
The events happening right now must occur (prophecy) before God can Rapture the church. For now, His grace is sufficient for us. We must daily pray for the salvation of the lost, ask for protection and grace to cover those who are under persecution, and utilize our shield of faith. We are fighting a spiritual battle. We are not battling flesh and blood. Powers of darkness, principalities, and evil spirits are attacking. May God give us discernment to see with spiritual eyes and gain knowledge and understanding. We CAN stand firm in the midst of this horrible chaos and confusion and even advance by using our spiritual sword, the Word of God!
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:12-13 (NKJV)
