Our One Cry Now!

When I asked an American friend why her Albanian husband’s relatives were considering moving from America back to Albania, she gave me this reply:
“Until 1990, Albania was ruled by Communists, the official national religion was atheism, and there were fourteen known believers in the entire country. My relatives are seeing the same socialist mindset take over America.”
Reeling, I asked, “How can that be!?” She said, “In America, you are not allowed to mention God in your public schools. That was foundational in Communist Albania.”
Just twenty-two years after Albania was known as the most spiritually closed country in the world, there are people suggesting there is more religious freedom in that country than ours.
What have we done to see our nation on such a trajectory? How has it happened that in many areas, robust Christianity has turned into a tentative faith community with little cultural influence?
Have we lost our first love by worshiping the gods of materialism and entertainment? When God asked us to rise up and “take the land,” did we tremble in fear and allow the humanist “giants” take over? Did we sacrifice our children to Molech in pro-choice fires? What exactly have we done?!
Whatever we have done, one response is needed right now: The body of Christ in America must humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14; James 4:9-10).
This week in our OneCry circles, let’s turn wholeheartedly to God and lead our groups to renounce every sin our nation has committed, whether we personally have participated in that sin or not. Let’s provide examples of humble repentance in crying out for mercy.

I’ve thought about that too, I kinda think it has less to do with the government tho, we have the responsibility to seek, preach, and teach our religions, and I think that goes for more than just Christianity, in order to truly have religious freedom in this country. We need to stop getting in our own way, accept people with love, not preach against them, turning them away from God altogether.
Hi Judy, thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it. The government though is bent on ridding this country along with many citizens, of anything having to do with God. Don’t take this the wrong way, but I don’t teach religion, I teach Christ as the only way to heaven.
I know, I feel like the government only likes to use religion when it works in their favor, like politicians who are actually corrupt, but portray them self as good christian men. idk, I’ve decided that I’ll believe and worship no matter what.
Good for you! Yes using God when one has an agenda is wrong! God saved us for His glory, not ours.
It’s pretty sad and scary your friend’s relatives see that in America. We definitely need to dedicate more time to praying for our country. I’ve been reading through the Old Testament lately and noticing so many rulers and groups of people who didn’t obey the Lord and keep Him a priority. It created all sorts of problems!
Actually it is a writer for One Cry that has that friend! Yes we do need to pray more for this country. If you are interested there are many groups at One Cry for this purpose. Mine is here, http://www.onecry.com/group/eversUnitedforRevival/ That was supposed to say believers…
Greg, I was so extremely honoured when you invited me to become part of CryOne prayer ministry for our nation. Telling children what they must pray in public schools (which is wrong) is SO very different than fostering an open and supportive forum for students to pray the prayers of their own choice! I am ardently lifting up my country and ALL its churches and each church member each day. I carry in my pocket a printout out of each new prayer request sent to me. AMEN!
Amen, thank you for all that you do. 🙂
