Does it make sense to pray for guidance about the future if we are not obeying in the thing that lies before us today? How many momentous events in Scripture depended on one person’s seemingly small act of obedience! Rest assured: Do what God tells you to do now, and, depend upon it, you will be shown what to do next.

There are very deep roots in the lessons of love….. and obedience is one of them. God asks us to surrender our will to Him so that He can conform our wills to His will for us. This means we must obediently lay down our desires, passions, hopes, and dreams. We must also lay down our loved ones at His feet. He may give them back just as we had them. He may adjust our hopes or change them all together. It takes faith and obedience to give them willingly over to God.
Fear can also hinder our obedience and path to righteousness. Our Lord may ask us to do something out of faith and fear will often step in to strangle and hinder us. I know that finances have interfered or caused many to stumble, especially when God has asked to trust Him by going in a different direction. Worry about supporting a family can wear out any soul. But God loves it when we totally rely on His provision. This means to rely on Him for all provisions, not just money.
There are many different trials we face in life. We must rely on God to provide for our needs and this mean trusting that God’s strength will be enough to carry us through storms. All difficulties we face with an obedient heart will turn out to be a blessing. You will see how puzzle pieces just suddenly fall into place. Your obedience to do what He asks of you will allow Him to work in your life. God tells us that obedience is better than sacrifice. He would rather you do what He asks than fast and pray or give up desserts!!
After you hear from God and commit to Him your obedience, pray for guidance. Be obedient to the things in the present and you will find your future to be blessed as He works out all of the details. He will surely tell you what to do next. You may not see very far into your future, but you will surely see enough of the path before you so that you don’t stumble or fall.
Romans 6:16 (Amplified) Do you not know that if you continually surrender yourselves to anyone to do his will, you are the slaves of him whom you obey, whether that be to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience which leads to righteousness (right doing and right standing with God)?
