1 CHRONICLES 16:11 (NIV) Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.
What a gift we have in prayer. It is our link to God and His Son Jesus Christ, who intercedes on our behalf both day and night. Communication is necessary in order to maintain healthy relationships. So, in order to have a healthy relationship with our Heavenly Father, we need to communicate with Him. Thus we are brought back to the topic of prayer.
When we pray we are seeking God. It might be wisdom that we seek or it might be protection. God will give us both of these. Most importantly, we should be seeking His will. When we align our wills with His desires, He will grant us the desires of our hearts.
Children on an Easter egg hunt will seek high and low for a beautifully dyed egg. They find the adventure of seeking out the treasured eggs both fun and exciting. They are enthusiastic in their search and rejoice over each and every egg they find.
This picture of a child on an egg hunt is a perfect analogy for Christians seeking the knowledge found in prayer and the Word of God. We should be enthusiastic when we enter into prayer. It is with a certain expectation that we should seek God, listening for the answers He will most faithfully provide. We can’t properly seek Him if we have our eyes on our own difficulties. We have to pray with our eyes on God.
When you sit down to read the Word of God, you may be searching for answers to some problem that plagues you. Good! God loves a treasure hunt. It is His good pleasure to hand out nuggets of gold otherwise known as wisdom and truth. I pray that your heavenly Father provides you with an exciting hunt for treasure every time you sit down and read your Bible.
He is faithful to reward the seeker. He will always hand you the perfect jewel to spur you on into good works, for His glory and praise.
