“No one is like you, Lord; You are great, and Your name is mighty in power.” Jeremiah 10:6 (NKJV)

In our twentieth century Western culture, personal names are little more than labels used to distinguish one person from another. Our God has many names with many different and wondrous meanings.  They define His character, explain His ways, and give promises. His names identify Him. God revealed His names to His people rather than allowing them to choose their names for Him.

With this devotion, I write about His name Elohim: The plural form of EL, meaning “strong one.”

            El Shaddai: “God Almighty.”

           El Elyon: “The Most High God.”

           El Olam: “The Everlasting God.” 

There is truly power in His name.  When you are afraid, simply cry out to Jesus.  When you make a petition be sure to say, “In the name of Jesus….”

His name will carry you to safety and give you refuge.  Like a strong tower, you can run to Him and find security. Peace be with you, dear one.

“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” John 14:13 (NKJV)
