The Ministry of the Spirit

When we see how often most Christians have missed the larger intention of the Holy Spirit’s coming and ministry, we understand how imperative it is to comprehend the divine intention of the Father.  Only then can we see how Fatherhood is the key to understanding God’s purposes for the Son and His many sons.  Too often it would appear that the Holy Spirit has been relegated to little more than “a blessing machine.”  To make the assumption that the Holy Spirit was sent for our benefit and our comfort is to miss the very intention in the Father.  It is the Holy Spirit who materializes us into adoption by the Father.

“And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” -Gal 4:6

It would be helpful if we understand how a king adopts his own flesh and blood son into becoming his heir. When a king would have a son, that son was given over to a pedagogue (child-trainer).  This was a servant that was trusted, educated, high in character, and qualified to train the child.  This servant also was inline with his master’s intentions.  These servants were typically in high esteem among all of the household.
