Train Up A Child

Adrian Rogers

June 17

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

A little boy was riding around and around the block. A man asked him, “What are you doing?”

“I’m running away from home,” he said.

“But you’re just going around and around the block,” said the man.

The little boy responded, “That’s because my mom won’t let me cross the street!”

Even in the earliest ages, there can be restraint in the heart of a child because of godly training by his or her parents. The only way I ever learned to play football was on the training field. The classroom wasn’t enough. Parents must provide training and education for the lessons of life to be ingrained in their children.

Has God given you the divine responsibility of parenthood? Then, spend some time this week to train your child in one area of godly living.

  1. Parents better be the ones who teach their kids God’s ways because the schools are now teaching homosexuality is okay and believe it or not I read where one school in Indiana is now teaching there no such thing as boys and girls. “We’re all just humans.”

  2. The issue of training up a child in the way he/she must follow lies squarely first of all on both parents. Your lifestyle as a father or mother has huge influence on the attitude and character of your child. They won’t copy the bible. Its you they will copy. The type of school they attend and the sort of friends they move with also plays a role. The community and environment they grow in is also vital. Some environment affect the positive growth of children. In all, commit the child unto the hands of God and lean not on your own understanding. Play your own role faithfully and hand over the child to God. Here in Nigeria, transgender isn’t an issue yet, but homosexuality and lesbianism has crept into the schools and society. These are clear signs that require fervent prayers.

Luke 21:36 "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
