“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” – 2 Timothy 4:3-4
There are some people who say, “Well, I come to church on Sunday to feel good. I don’t want some man up there ranting, raving, and pointing his finger at me, telling me I’ve got to repent and get right with God and all that business.”
Billy Sunday, a great fire-eating preacher of yesteryear, once preached an excoriating message against sin. When he finished, somebody said, “Billy, you better tone it down a little bit. You’re rubbing the fur on the cat the wrong way.” He said, “Well, the old cat is headed towards hell! If she’d turn around, I’d be rubbing it the right way.”
Does the truth of God rub you the wrong way? Then it’s time to turn around.
