The reason many of us never experience the peace of God is because we like to sin retail and confess wholesale. We like to sin all through the day and then at the end of the day confess, “Father, forgive my sins.” Or we might pray something like this, “Father, if I have sinned, forgive me.” Now folks, that’s not going to get it done.
You see, In order for a sin to be confessed, the Holy Spirit of God must put the searchlight of His holiness there. And if the Holy Spirit of God convicts you specifically, then God wants you to express it specifically.
You need to name that sin, whatever it is, be it jealousy, envy, pride, lust, or whatever. Once you name it, you’re about to get victory over it. Then, not only must you name it, you need to nail it to the cross where Jesus’ blood covers it.
First John 1:7 says, “If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”
