Paul was concerned that the Corinthians might be easily deceived. He said (2 Corinthians 11:4) that if someone were to come along who “preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you might well put up with it!”
He’s saying, “You’re so gullible, you may accept whatever doctrine a false Jesus is peddling.”
Friend, there are demons that bear the name of Jesus, and we must be on our guard. We must also work to help our brothers know the True Jesus—the One and only One talked about in God’s Word.
Jesus exhorted us, “Search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.” (John 5:39). The Bible is our only authority on Jesus.
