Once a man hears the gospel and his heart is opened to the Word of God, if he does not act upon that light and believe in Jesus Christ, his condemnation is doubled. Not only is he judged for the disease—he is also judged that he refused the cure.
Light obeyed increases light; light refused increases darkness. Romans 1:21 says, “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”
