Assurance Of Everlasting Life

A little boy was in a revival meeting. The pastor preached from John 5:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
On the way home, the little fellow said the devil began to whisper to him saying, “You’re not saved. You don’t feel just right. You don’t deserve it.” He sat on the couch and remembered the verse. “Verily, Verily, I say unto you.” That means truly, truly, I say unto you. He started talking to himself, Jesus says he that heareth His word…I heard it…and believeth on Him that sent me…I believe….hath everlasting life…I have everlasting life. The word says so.
It seemed to the boy that Satan was under the couch. He took the Bible and stuck it under the couch and said, “Devil, read it for yourself!” From that moment on, the doubt left.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13).

  2. I am hated, rejected, ignored, mocked, jeered at in the street. I am poor, was born homeless, and it looks like I’ll be homeless again. I am depressed, lower than shit, hurt, in pain, crying and alone, why in the fucking hell would I want God’s crappy gift of eternal life???? I have had enough of this one thanks, when you see him, tell him from me to shove it! If he has anything of value, I’ll come back to him, in the meantime time I seek the solace and peace of eternal oblivion in death. What I hate about these blogs is that they are always written by some American with perfect and happy and rich lives, listing around in the mansions while there is others out there in the world you who suffer greatly, are poor depressed, hated cold and hungry, and when God ignores our prayers, death is our only consolation.
It’s unfair that you rich Christians rub our noses in your happiness, joy, and great wealth, if only Americans would let go of their arrogance, and the attitude the wealth has upon them, they would see someone like me, a nobody, not particularly good looking, or well-dressed, standing alone, unseen, unheard and unloved.

You hurt me and other unfortunate people out there with your words, and the worst part is I can do nothing about it, I and others like me have to stand and listen as you speak of how God lives you .it’s than us through your many gifts, and we have to just walk away with nothing, nothing from you mega rich pastors or your god.

There is much to see outside the U.S.A, if you want to see pain, hunger, homelessness, poor beggars with little kids, scared, lonely, depressed, and year-round people, then come to London, England, and I’ll show you a world of such poverty, you will go home believing every American is a multi-millionaire.

Please don’t assume that countries, such as the United Kingdom are super rich like America is, and that God is blessing our socks off, because he is most certainly not.

There is more suffering than you realise, I for one can go without a home, food, fine clothing, but when they hate me, they destroy me and I feel really bad.

If God has chosen yous as his favourites, please don’t rub our noses in it by telling us so, each day for us brings more problems than we can possibly bear.

    Your friend
    Manny.

    • Dear Manny, I am so sorry that you feel this way. You have obviously been deeply hurt in many ways. I can tell you that no one is rubbing your nose in anything, at least not on purpose. As far as having a wonderful life and being rich etc, I think you miss judge and miss characterize many preachers and teachers of the Word. Many are not “rich”, at least not those who truly follow and teach God’s Word. Those that are mega rich are prosperity gospel teachers etc. Pastor Greg Laurie lost a child when his son died at 30. My son died at the age of 24. Life is not all fun and games for many of us – but yet we keep the faith, Jesus has better things in store for us in Heaven. God also helps us to get through our times of deep pain and suffering. Yes suffering is allowed, and no I do not have an answer for why these things are allowed, not always anyway. I can tell you that we do tend to grow more as a person in and during times of suffering, it would be nice if that was not so, but it does not work that way. I can also tell you that when my son died, God was a great source of comfort to me. Yes I was very unhappy that my son did not live, but I never blamed God for this. Life has been rough for many of us, but I am no way comparing myself or anyone else to you Manny, I have no idea of the pain that you have been through. I’m simply saying that because we say the things we do, does not mean that our lives are all good with no problems and no suffering. Some of the strongest people I know – are also the very same ones who have suffered the most. I know of one person who’s spouse died, after the death of this person’s very loved spouse, this person then came to know and believe in Jesus Christ. There is much pain and suffering in this life, but for the followers of Jesus Christ, the “next life,” or eternity will be with God, and there will be no more suffering of any kind.
May God bless you and help you through your trials Manny.
I am always available to be of help to you if at all possible.

      Greg
