I recently listened to a service in which the pastor was expounding on the Word of God – specifically the truth of God’s Word.
This raises the question: Is the Word of God, the Bible, inspired – or is the Bible inerrant? If one believes the Bible to be the Word of God in truth, there can only be one answer to this question – the Bible is inerrant. In other words, the Bible is God’s Word expressed through those who wrote it, without error. Many different people wrote the books that make up the Bible, but the words they wrote were inspired by the Holy Spirit – not from they themselves.
The Apostle Paul speaks of the inerrant truth of God’s Word:
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Obviously Paul believes the Word to be the Word of God, and not of man. What do you believe?
I cannot say this is anything new, but I can say that the inerrancy of the Bible is being attacked now more so then ever before. This is an extremely dangerous trend orchestrated by Satan. I cannot even begin to relay to you just how serious this is. If one begins to doubt even parts of the Bible, what is next? Believing the entire Bible is just a collection of made up stories meant to scare us, possibly to “make us behave properly?”
During the service I listened to, the pastor was describing a conversation he had had with a seminary student. This future pastor of the Word said that almost an entire semester was spent looking for the mistakes in the Bible concerning King David. Uh, what? How’s that again?
The reason behind this search for mistakes in the Bible concerning King David? There was no proof of the actual existence of King David or of King Solomon! What do I mean by proof? No one had, until recently found any archeological proof of King David and King Solomon’s existence.
Can you understand how dangerous this is, or the severe repercussions of this kind of thinking? The premise of this kind of thinking is this: In order to believe what is in the Bible is accurate and true, there must be physical proof found by man. In this writer’s opinion, this is even more serious than the New Age thinking permeating the Church. There are many wolves in the Church of today.
Allow me to give you some examples:
There was a pastor who doubted God’s Word – he went on to found the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which has wreaked havoc all over the U.S. including in my own hometown.
How about a worship pastor – Michael Gongor who says Genesis is not true?
How about Eugene Peterson – a pastor who wrote The Message bible, which is NO bible at all! If you doubt this, click the link and read what I wrote about The Message, it’s an eye opener.
It’s bad enough that many “Christians” doubt the veracity of the Bible, but now we have pastors being TRAINED to doubt that the very words of God are actually His Words! What kind of damage do you think these future “pastors” might do if they conform to this indoctrination of disbelief? I shudder to think…
Please understand something here – the enemy has no need of attacking God directly, it is much more effective to place doubt in the minds of a believer or someone who is searching for the truth on God. Satan is clever, insidious, and underhanded – never forget this. Do you doubt Satan is real? Another ploy of the enemy that goes hand in hand with doubting God’s Word – after all, the Bible clearly states that Satan is real! James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8, 1 John 3:8, Romans 16:20
Read my interview with Satan, not real of course but a convincing read, then share it everywhere!
Those who doubt God’s Word as being inerrant are travelling down a very slippery slope, undertaking a perilous journey that will not end well.
Pastors need to be fully convinced of the truth of God’s Word – ALL of it. Otherwise, they have no business teaching it, and none of us should be listening to those who do not uphold the inerrancy of the Bible. Pastors are the shepherds of the sheep after all, if these shepherds doubt the Word – how can they possibly be effective as pastors?
Isaiah 55:10-11 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Very well said and sadly it is very true. The enemy has convinced my very own brother that “man just wrote it.” He’s never read the Bible. I gave him one and it’s never been opened. Breaks my heart.
That is tough to take Sue. Maybe at some point he will! God CAN do all things my friend.
Thanks for this post. I believe that the Scriptures are free from error in their original form. I think the difficulties creep in the further away from the original manuscripts we get. After all, the original manuscripts didn’t have chapters, verses, or the handy passage headings that we see in our modern copies of God’s Word. Mass production and multiple translations, even when they are painstakingly and prayerfully done, can result in immaterial errors-like a missing verse or inaccurate interpretation of a word.
Yes, this is why I use the King James version. Many others have deleted a lot of content including the much vaunted NIV.
Thanks for the comment
Greg
This is why I thank God that the Bible fell from God’s Right Hand, a complete and bound book, with verse separations, chapter separations, and translated into old English just for us. That no man or woman had a hand in composing the letters, transporting the letters, or translating the letters, because you know – people loose things even if they’re important like that. I’m sure it baffled the members of the early church to have to puzzle out English, but they had the Apostles to speak in tongues for them.
So true!
Thank you.
You are most welcome , thank you for your post.
Thank you blessings to you. 🙂
🙂
Great post to remind us all of the truth! Being on social media and reading much of what is posted, I DO see things about how it isn’t inerrant as men wrote it. I see the comments from readers and am surprised to see many agree. We MUST uphold the truth as truth is slipping away left and right in our culture. I switched to KJV about a year ago as I compared verses and really was not happy with what was being left out of other versions or how things had been changed. It can still be frustrating at times with the KJV wording etc. however 🙂
Exactly. As you continue to read the KJV, it gets easier. It’s not as bad as some make it out be, and even the much vaunted NIV leaves out and changes many things in the Bible. Keep reading the KJV, you will NOT be sorry! Most translations drop many important words and even verses all-together. Something else to think about – the KJV is the ONLY version not copyrighted! There is a reason for that! If one is in doubt about the meaning of a particular verse, google it and select Biblehub. Several different author’s explanations as to the meaning of said verse. Very useful, I use it all the time.
Blessings
Greg
Thank you for telling me about Biblehub….used it last night as it made a verse in KJV clear! Yes, the KJV is not as bad as it is made out to be and I have no intention of going back to NIV or NASB 🙂
Good!
I only read the King James Authorized Version 1611 Holy Bible!! I also own a Geneva Holy Bible that was 50 years before the King James Holy Bible!!

So God commands people to kill other people to take their land. Also, kill the little children but save some virgins for yourself. When Jesus said, “Father forgive them and love your neighbors and turn the other cheek,” not to mention the Be-attitudes, he must of been kidding. WE probably should minimize what Jesus said so that we can hold to the paper pope of sola scriptura. Your lens is backwards. Start with Jesus – let Him interpret the others.
Your comment is ridiculous and way off base. I simply wrote an article that shows how the inerrancy of the Bible is being attacked and why that matters. God commanded many things be done in the Old Testament. Then Jesus upped the ante in the New Testament. If you have a problem with what God has decreed – take it up with Him, not me.
I don’t have a problem with what God said. He was very clear when He spoke “love your neighbor” and “turn the other cheek.” Innerrancy is a modern invention that doesn’t need to be defended. You can’t elevate the Bible over Jesus. He is what God is like. It’s not dangerous to challenge innerancy– it is healthy. You’re trying to make the Bible do something it was never intended to do.
Jesus is the innerrant Word of God. To say there Bible is innerrant is holding on to Luther’s tradition, it is not a responsible thing to do. It’s creates atheists every day. God would not command genocide–Jesus proved that!
Maybe you need to reread the Bible, you seem to want to dismiss the Old Testament out-of-hand. In the OT when God spoke to someone, that was the voice of Jesus Christ. As well, OT prophecy foretold the coming of Christ. If one can pick apart the Bible meaning that one can pick and choose what is and what is not true – then what is the point of the Bible at all? Some say Genesis is a made up story, some have said that the Old Testament never happened. People that say these things obviously have limited understanding of God. God is a God of love, but God is also a God of obedience. God says no sin will go unpunished – why is it that many will embrace what the Bible says when it speaks of the love of Christ, but when it speaks of other things like Hell – then people disbelieve? As for the atheists, if what the Bible teaches causes them to turn away, well they were already looking for an excuse to walk away from God. If it was not the Bible it would be something else.
