The boy went home and sat on the couch, and it seemed that the devil was under the couch just whispering to him, “You’re not saved. You’re not saved. You’re not good enough. You don’t understand enough. You don’t feel just right. You are not saved. You will never make it.”
So the boy decided to read that verse again. He took the Bible and opened it to John 5:24, “Verily, verily [that means truly, truly] I say unto you, [Jesus is speaking], He that heareth My word [I’ve heard it] and believeth on Him that sent Me [I believe on the God that sent the Lord Jesus Christ], hath everlasting life [I have everlasting life].”
He put the Bible under the couch and said, “There, devil, read it for yourself.” That is not altogether foolish. Next time the devil comes to you and tries to get you to doubt, don’t get in an argument with him. He is not worth it, according to the Word of God.
