The only path to forgiveness, Heaven, and the Father is through Jesus Christ
By Greg Holt
“6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;
and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6
(ICB) Our works are of little use before God if we have not first repented of our sins and accepted His gift of life. We have no righteousness of our own, the righteousness that the Father sees in us is imputed to us by Christ.
In order for us to attain our own righteousness, we necessarily must be perfect. This of course is not going to happen, not by any effort of ours.
Many are the people who have the wrong-headed notion that they will be granted a place in Heaven because they are good people, and they do good works. Hell will be populated with many of these same people unfortunately.
The truth is that without the saving grace of God, the best, the nicest, the most generous, the most loving person(s) in the world will be denied Heaven.
Jesus said that: “there is none good but one, that is, God” (Mark 10:18). So much for any one of us being “good.” And as for our so-called works, they are useless as a means of attaining Heaven.
“8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
The only path to forgiveness, Heaven, and the Father is through Jesus Christ. The standard is perfection, and each of us falls woefully short of that goal (Romans 3:23).
There is all manner of nonsense taught including in the Church. But the way to Heaven, or in other words salvation is through Jesus, and Him only.
It’s really not that complicated. You pray, no special words, just a simple prayer. Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sin, place your trust in Him and not yourself or your works. Invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, believing that Jesus paid the price for your sins, rose from the dead, and is even now alive forever more.
One last word about works. While true that works will not save you, a person possessing a true saving faith will be a person who also has a history of “works.” James said that faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26), therefore those that truly believe what God’s Word says to us will be engaged in helping others in some way. Remember too that love is action, not always emotion.
