History is a subject taught in most every classroom in the world. It is a good thing to know the history of your country (And the world). What has your nation done in the past, how and when was your country founded? What does your nation (People) believe in as a whole?
There is another aspect of history as well, some things in history need to be known so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past in the present. On the flip side of the coin, there are things in our history that should be celebrated, that we can take some pride in.
The most important thing concerning our history however is that ALL of our history should be preserved. Not just the good stuff, not what some self-important bureaucrat thinks should be saved and taught, all of our history is important, it is after all ours. The good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between, we need to learn it all.
How are we to know who we are as a people, who we have become and will be, if we are lied to about our history?
The single biggest problem with the teaching of, writing about, presenting etc., of our history, is that much of it is revisionist. In other words, what is taught is not the true story, it’s not real, it has been “edited” to present the ideals that a particular group of people, as well as individuals want to showcase. When history is changed in any way from what really happened, it is no longer history, it is propaganda.
I’m not at all sure how many people have heard of The 1619 Project. This “project” claims to illuminate people concerning the REAL history of America, such as: our nation was founded on slavery (This is a false and devious claim). The “project” also claims to be a tool to combat black racism. While The 1619 Project certainly does relay some hard truths, as there were some dark days in our history, the problem is that their focus is on solely one side of the story. There is plenty of information that was left out. This was deliberate, because the information that was excluded would portray a very different America, and would likely cause many people to draw a different conclusion than the one the “project” wants people to come to.
In the early 1600s, two settlements were started on what is now the East Coast of the United States. The first was the Jamestown settlement in Virginia, and the second was the Plymouth settlement in Massachusetts. There were more settlements then these two, but I will not be addressing those here.
The 1619 Project focuses on the Jamestown colony, which at first anyway was an abysmal failure, the exact reason why the “project” chose it to base their revisionist history claims on. The “project” claims that Jamestown was where slavery originated, and was instituted as a national practice in the U.S. Here is what they don’t tell you, Jamestown at first was against slavery, yes Jamestown later on embraced slavery, but not at first. Also, slavery did not start here, slavery was an institutionalized norm the world over, even among the Indians in the U.S., tribes enslaved other tribes.
The colonists came from Europe where every nation was run by a king or queen, this was a lot like socialism. You worked for the “royalty,” they took what they wanted from you, and you received whatever they decided to allow you to have – socialism. At first despite not having nearly enough supplies sent from the king, they did ok. The colonists had good relations with the local Indians; the colonists went to the Indians and basically demanded that the Indians take care of them, and they (The Indians) did so, desiring to be good neighbors. After two years of this however, the Indians told the colonists that they were on their own. The Jamestown colonists were woefully underprepared having previously managed to get rid of the one man (They tried to kill him) who tried to get them prepared to survive in a harsh environment.
Along comes the winter of 1609-1610, the colonists started out with 490 people. They ate any creature they could find, ANYTHING – snakes, cattle, horses, cats and dogs etc. Then when the supply of animals ran out, they began to eat people, cannibalism, this was still not enough to save them. At the end of this winter, there were only 60 colonists left alive – the rest had starved to death. After this, the Jamestown people started wars with the Indians – because they decided that they were going to force the Indians to supply their needs. They in fact kidnapped the one Indian who did so much to help them, and used her as a pawn, Pocahontas.
The Jamestown colonists were not a good bunch of people, The 1619 project would have you believe that we are descended from a bunch of horrible evil people, why it’s no wonder our nation is so nasty and vile today! This a revisionist lie, Jamestown was only one colony, and NOT representative of what others did. There is after all always one bad apple in the bunch, right?
The other colony that this “project” ignores is the Plymouth colony. Those of us who are older learned about this colony in school. Most of the older folk would recognize the name of the ship they traveled on to get here: The Mayflower. Many may even recognize the very first civil document in the U.S. – The Mayflower Compact. These folks, unlike the Jamestown bunch were guided by the Bible, the Jamestown people believed in the Bible, but it did not guide their daily lives – big difference. These people were known as the Pilgrims, and they were a church congregation. Their pastor in England dared to say that Jesus Christ was the head of the Church, the Queen of England stated the SHE was the head of the Church, and this pastor was executed. The Pilgrims left England, and after a while ended up here.
The Plymouth colony based everything that they did on the Bible, including government, specifically the Hebrew government. Remember Moses? He was in charge of civil matters; Arron was in charge of the Church. They decided on yearly elections, the “state” and the “church” leaders were all elected each year. This was the true beginning and MEANING of separation of church and state. Meaning that the “state” will not interfere in the church, nor establish its’ own church. It NEVER meant that the church could not be present and celebrated within the state. That is a modern-day interpretation by liberals seeking to completely do away with the Church and any influence that they and God may have.
The Plymouth colonists were by and large a very hard-working people. But the problem of laziness began to creep in. This was solved by instituting a new rule for the colony based on what else? The Bible.
“For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” 2 Thessalonians 3:10
Things change when people realize that the free ride just came to an end. The Bible says that if one does not provide for their own family, they are worse than an infidel (1 Timothy 5:8). People in Plymouth (And elsewhere) began to work hard, for themselves, to provide for themselves, another way to look at this change is this: the Plymouth colonists literally came up with the first free-market enterprise, or capitalism, whatever you want to call it, in the U.S. It was said that after all of this was instituted, production for what was needed to survive, increased by sevenfold! Only a foolish person claims that capitalism does not work. You work for YOURSELF, for your own benefit instead of a collective, a king etc., how can this NOT work? How would you be more incentivized to work hard?
No one else in the world was involved in a free-market enterprise system at that time. This was brand new, and it obviously worked very well, still does today.
Next up was the Plymouth colony’s concern over private property, the Bible has much to say on this actually. The colonists actually looked for property that looked like no one was there, no one was using it, they did not want to take someone else’s land. They landed in the winter, and made habitations. In the spring, an Indian showed up. This Indian went and got another Indian that was fluent in English, and had spent some years around the people in England. He helped the settlers out, basically mentoring them. Then as the Plymouth colony was concerned about being on someone else’s land, they inquired about how they could buy the land that they were on, and so they bought the land from the Indians.
In 1641, Plymouth passed an anti-slavery law. In 1646 a slave ship arrived in Plymouth. The ship’s people were informed that bringing slaves to Plymouth was a good way to get killed, slavery was against their laws remember, and was considered a capital offense. The ship’s people were allowed to live, but they were told to return the slaves from wherever they had stolen them from.
In 1792, in Massachusetts, black people were considered the equals of white people, in 1792! The problem isn’t that the black people were always mistreated, it is more that history is not taught properly, as in what REALLY happened. Here’s an example:
How many people know who Henry Hoosier was? Hoosier was a black preacher, who drew thousands of people to his “meetings,” he was a minster and evangelist during the Great Awakening in America. The bread and butter of his meetings were the roughnecks, guys that worked on the docks, the frontier etc., guys who were drinkers, liked to fight etc. These were the guys getting “saved” at Hoosiers meetings. These guys worked their way to the West, the new frontier. They were “different” then the other guys on the frontier, and people noticed. Then they asked about who these “different” guys were, answer: the Hoosiers. Sound familiar? Indiana, the Hoosier state.
Back as early as the 1640s, black men in white towns were elected to public office. By 1876, over 1000 blacks were elected to public office, but you don’t hear about this today, you only hear the negative message instead. Granted, the black people were at times abused, but black people have not had a solely negative and dark road as the liberal revisionist historians and other people with an agenda want you to believe.
The first black person elected to office in Great Britian? 1987. In Italy? 2010. But America is the racist nation!!
The Bible was a part of the U.S. school system until 1962-1963 when the U.S. Supreme court illegally outlawed the use of the Bible and prayer in the schools. The Bible was the base of education in the U.S. Everyone was taught to read, why? So that they would know how to read the Bible. Today, many kids in school can’t read, even at an elementary school level, and yet they are allowed to graduate! In the 1800s, the Supreme Court ruled that schools MUST teach the Bible! The Bible in schools goes back to the 1600s in Plymouth Massachusetts. It was only 350 years later that the Bible was NOT in schools.
In the legal system, there is a term called “due process.” What this means is basically that one will get a fair trial, this also can be traced back to the Massachusetts colony. And where did the colony get this idea of due process from? From the Bible (John 8:10; Proverbs 18:17; Acts 22:1).
Just about everyone has heard of the Salem witch trials, there was a lot of hullabaloo about them, and much of it was and is false. Witch trials were going on all over the world, this was not a Massachusetts thing. There are some highly significant differences between what happened in Massachusetts, and what happened in the rest of the world however.
The witch trials that were held in the world in general dragged on for two centuries! How long did the witch trials last in Massachusetts? 18 months. How many people died? 27. THOUSANDS died in the rest of the world, innocent people, many burned to death, in fact, the number was about 500,000 people killed.
What happened in Massachusetts to bring the trials to a halt? This is interesting.
Three Christian leaders went to the governor of the time, and told him that the trials were wrong, that there was no “due process” involved. These trials tended to revolve around purely circumstantial evidence. In fact, years later, some of the witnesses recanted their testimony saying it was pure fiction. After confronting the governor and informing him that the trials were not what the Bible prescribed, the governor said to them, “You’re right,” and he subsequently told the judge to immediately stop the trials.
When the Massachusetts council was told about this, they proclaimed a day of fasting and prayer, to seek God’s forgiveness for having shed innocent blood. This would NOT happen today. Shedding innocent blood is an extremely serious offense in God’s eye’s, hence one of the reasons that abortion is such a serious issue.
The government then vacated all the sentences. Then they paid restitution to the families of those killed in the witch trials.
By the way, the documents exist that PROVE all of this that I have relayed to you reading this, it is NOT in doubt. But this is the power of those who desire to change the story, to change our history in order to manipulate people to believe and to do as they desire you to do. People such as those involved in The 1619 Project.
It is interesting to note here that said “project” was started by the New York Times, THAT should have been a HUGE red flag to people everywhere. But; unfortunately, way too many people are willing to drink deeply of the liberal Kool-Aid.
Jamestown needed someone to preach the Bible to them, just like a lot of today’s churches, Plymouth on the other hand read and learned the Bible for themselves.
To know your history is of vital importance, to know the TRUE history, not what some person or group of people made up for you to believe and naively follow, so as to bend you to their way of thinking, and/or their will. To know your Bible is important, in fact, I would go so far as to say it is imperative. God told the people in Israel to “meditate” day and night on His Word.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8
Ask yourself this question: has the United States as a whole achieved “good success” since abandoning God?
