Pavlov, the Russian psychologist, did experiments in what we call “conditioned response.” He had his dogs, and he would ring a bell, feed the dogs, ring a bell, feed the dogs, ring a bell, feed the dogs. He conditioned the dogs so that all he had to do was ring a bell and they’d begin to drool.
