Thy Kingdom Come, part II

Myles Munroe wrote a book a few years back entitled, Rediscovering the Kingdom. This book breaks down much of what anyone would need for understanding the Kingdom. He aptly describes a kingdom this way:

  • A King and Lord – a sovereign – Jesus
  • A Territory – a domain – Heaven
  • A Constitution – a royal covenant – The Bible
  • A citizenry – community of subjects – Body of Christ and the angels
  • Law – acceptable principles – God’s commands
  • Privileges – rights and benefits – blessings over curses
  • A code of Ethics – acceptable lifestyle and conduct
  • An Army – security – the angels
  • A Social Culture – protocol and procedures – holiness, purity, righteousness

The King of God’s Kingdom is Jesus, the Christ. God gave the authority to Jesus to rule the Earth. Remember back in Genesis 1:26-27, God stated: “‘Let Us make man in Our image, in Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the Earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.’”

Mankind is here, in part, to rule; to subdue the Earth – not one another! God created man so as to have someone with whom He could share His love and commune. In such communion, God desires to have a people who rule the Earth in righteousness as He Himself would do. Through communing with us, God’s Kingdom comes down to Earth through mankind.

We are to be kings among kings under the Sovereign, King Jesus. We, God’s people, strangers on Earth, have been given authority from The Authority; the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Since we are to rule the Earth with fellow kings and heirs to the throne of grace, ambassadors from Heaven sent to Earth, we need to know our purpose.

Munroe wrote, “Intimate relationship with the ruler allows greater levels of rulership.” What an awesome statement! This is why we need to know the heart of the King so as to allow Him to rule through us. We can readily know His heart by praying: “Father, I have known only about You, but I now want to know YOU personally. When I read Your Word and study to show myself approved, reveal Yourself to me in my inner man as I have never known before. Show me Your ways and grant me deeper understanding of Your Kingdom so I will know the true meaning of ‘My yoke is easy and My burden light.” Make every crooked path straight and guide me into purity, holiness and righteousness. Amen.”
