If you want to believe, you can believe, because God will enable you to believe. God speaks to all of us.
That’s the reason I know you would be lying if you said, “I can’t believe.” Why am I so sure? Because Jesus did not say, “You cannot come to Me.” He said, “You will not come to Me that you might have life.”
If you said, “I can’t believe,” your problem would not be in your head; your problem would be in your heart. Hebrews 3:12 says “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” The writer doesn’t say an empty head but an evil heart.
If you want to believe, you can believe. Why? Because the Holy Spirit of God will enable you to believe. John was saying in the verse above that if you can put your trust in feeble man with all of his failures and foibles, then surely you could put your trust in Almighty God.
