Learning To Smile At Death

Death is a decided fact. But it’s a fact many people don’t want to face. We sometimes try to change the subject, but the Bible says in Hebrews 9:27 “… it is appointed unto men once to die.” The only exception to death is if Jesus comes first.
We do not know when we will die. David said, “Yea, though I walk through the valley …,” but he didn’t know from one moment to the next what was going to happen.
You see, God doesn’t have to take your life; all He has to do is stop giving it. It is “of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.” (Lamentations 3:22) Life is a gift from God. Our lives are like a vapor on a frosty morning, here for a moment and then gone. “If the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that.” (James 4:15) And step number one in learning to smile at death is to look death straight in the face. It’s there! But we don’t have to fear it. We know it’s coming, and we must prepare to face it with a smile.

Luke 21:36 "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
