To guard against future fatalities, they built a safety net under the next section of the bridge. Only 10 fell, but every 10 that fell were caught and were saved. Their lives were not lost, but here is the important thing: with the safety net there, the workers finished the bridge 25% faster because they could concentrate on their work.
And so it is with the child of God. When he knows that his future is secure, he can concentrate on the present. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:27-29).
