God's Voice

The Bible tells us that believers can hear the voice of God. We recognize it, not so much as an audible voice but as an inner knowing. We perceive and grasp when our Master speaks.
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 (NKJV)
Man cannot intellectualize or emotionalize the Gospel. It must be received and understood spiritually. Through faith, we enter into fellowship with Jehovah.
Because the Holy Spirit lives within us, we have the ability to discern God’s voice. But the devil does not like our communion with God and diligently works to disrupt our fellowship. If we are walking in sin or have become complacent in our walk, we will struggle to hear His voice. Sin hinders our relationship with God.
There is not one set way in which God speaks to us. We cannot put Him in a box, nor can we dictate the time or place He communicates with us. Rather, we must practice our discernment by reading and learning the Word of God. Scripture is His inspired word. We should be in a constant state of readiness to hear from Him.
Ask yourself this question. “Am I discouraged or worried about something?” If you answered yes, please consider what Scripture says about God’s ability to fill us with hope. Then ask yourself if your worry has been helpful or profitable.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.Romans 15:13 (NIV)
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?” Luke 12:25 (NIV)
The voice of God speaks words of comfort, not worry. His voice is one of encouragement, not discouragement!
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NKJV)
Sadly, some folks obsess about their problem(s) and it keeps them from being productive. They are distracted since every thought is spent on their apparent impossibility or misfortune. Working out the impossible is God’s everyday reality! We must take every thought captive and focus on God’s faithfulness. Otherwise, fear and confusion will show up. Nothing good comes from focusing on self, self, self! If we do change our focus to God’s promise to see us through, we will find our pit of despair has grown into something more like the Grand Canyon.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)
“’Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”  Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
The enemy likes to push. If you are feeling pushed or rushed to make quick decisions (instead of trusting God to lead in His time) consider the voice in your head. If fear is behind the pressure and push, think twice. But, if you are certain God has instructed you to act, He might see your hesitation as a lack of faith or trust.
Have you ever heard the old saying God is a gentleman? Well, He is! He will enlighten our thinking and guide us into the terrain He wants us to travel. It is the enemy who brings about chaos and confusion.
If we feel obsessive anxiety, God will provide a peaceful calm. All we need to do is ask for it! If worry robs us of health and sleep, our God is able to provide comfort and rest. When problems lead us down a path of discouragement, God has another path leading to encouragement. If we are standing in the midst of confusion, His wisdom and enlightenment are but a prayer away. Should we find ourselves in a stranglehold of fear, the promises within the Bible will certainly loosen Fear’s grip.
God’s voice is one that calms, comforts, convicts, encourages, enlightens, leads, reassures, and stills. The voice of the enemy causes obsessions, worries, condemnation, discouragement, confusion, unfriendly pushing, fear, and an unnecessary need for speed. Wait on the Lord and He will renew your heart. Let His voice renew your spirit.
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17(NLT)
