The Bread Of Deceit

Did you know that there are no happy old people living in Satan’s camp? Now, he has some happy young people—those who are living high, wide and handsome right now. They have a certain modicum of fun and what we would call happiness. But Satan has no happy old people. Here’s why. Satan always gives the best first and the worst last.
For example, Proverbs 20:17 says, “Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.” Satan is a counterfeiter and a deceiver. With Satan, the journey always starts sweet, but it does not end that way.
Do you ever see television ads that show the partiers the morning after an all-night drinking spree? Does the camera pan to the drunk in the gutter as the closing scrolls “Have a good time with…”? Do the billboards show the blasted lives and the broken homes?
Satan always gives the best first and the worst last. But Jesus gives the best last.
