Have you ever thought about God as a daddy? You say, “That’s irreverent.” No. As a matter of fact, scholars tell us that when Jesus taught us to pray “Our Father” in Matthew 6:9, Jesus spoke in the Aramaic. So the word that Jesus would have used that is translated “Father” is the word “Abba Father.”
Now, American children when they are little say, “Da-Da.” But in the Middle East they say, “Abba-Abba.” Those are the most basic syllables a child can lisp. And Jesus says we can call the great God of the universe “Abba Father.” Daddy, Father.
I’m so glad that our Heavenly Father never gets so busy running this universe and commanding the angels that He doesn’t have time to just close His ledger and talk to you as if there were no one else on earth and nothing else for Him to do.
