Curiosity Killed The Cat: Will It Also Kill You?

Bible_1

Curiosity killed the cat, but the cat died happy.

Not so for the Christian…too much curiosity may in fact do severe damage to your walk with Christ.

Curiosity about the truthfulness of the entire Bible has happened to many of us if not most of us if we are honest. That in and of itself is not a bad thing. What matters is what you do with that curiosity. Do you search the Word trying to disprove it? Or do you accept that the Word of God is simply that…the very Word of God!

Search the Word of God desiring to understand it, desiring to hear it speak to you…for the Word of God is living. If you truly have honest questions (who doesn’t?) concerning things in the Bible…seek out the answers in the pages of God’s book and ask Him for enlightenment, He will give it to you.
There are parts of the Bible that boggle my mind, well that does not take much…but anyway – maybe you simply need to take some things on faith! We walk by faith, not by site after all.
Noah’s Ark is one thing I cannot wrap my mind around. How in the world did ALL the animals fit? But here is the thing…I choose to believe it happened because God said it happened. It does not matter if I understand it all or not.
Take this for example: do you understand how Jesus being God and man at the same time works? How about His death and subsequent resurrection? Yet you believe this right? See my point?
Do not be led away from the true goodness that is Christ by false teachers and your own curiosity. Take recent developments with Michael Gongor for example. He now says the book of Genesis is not real. You can read about that here.
I myself have a deep interest in the occult, yet I do not and will not pursue that interest, why? Because it is detrimental to my walk with Christ. It interests me because I cannot understand how anyone can be reeled in by such foolishness, yet it happens and it is by design of the god of this world: Satan.
Do not cause yourself untold heartache by becoming interested in things not of Christ, many have done so to their eternal regret.

The world including the Christian community is falling headlong into Apostasy…have nothing to do with this. Now more than ever it is of utmost importance to be grounded in the Word of God and to know and accept Jesus Christ as Lord.

The world may throw some pretty brutal things at you and I, but remember this: no matter what the world and it’s god (Satan) do to you, if you believe in Jesus you are saved and secure for all eternity. Some will be killed for their faith, some will lose all, some will be tortured…yet no matter what happens those who declare Jesus as Lord will be with Him for all eternity; Satan knows this and can do nothing to change it! Satan and the demonic horde are a defeated foe…Christ has already defeated them all on the cross.

Prophecy is also a very interesting subject, but be careful you are not led away by the mystery of it. You can read a great article on that here.

It bears mentioning I think the warning of Christ concerning the book of Revelation: Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book

Revelation is a hard book to understand, it was however written as a warning to us, it was never intended to be someones money maker at the latest prophecy conference nor was it written to sell books with men’s opinions: for that is what they are – opinions. If you have read Revelation then you know what you need to know; it is Christ’s warning to us through the Apostle John to be ready, to understand that Christ is coming and we are to be ready for Him, that the wicked will suffer and be punished, that Satan is and will be defeated. That we will be with God in heaven on earth and there will be no more sin and suffering. What more do you need to know?

Set your sights on the Word of God and your heart upon Jesus Christ.

  1. A powerful word Greg. If we believe one word of God’s Word we are to believe all of it, regardless of whether we understand it or not. That’s what faith is. Blessings to you.

  2. How true this is! Thanks for sharing your thoughts here Greg. I enjoyed it very much.
