What If You’re Wrong?

Adrian Rogers

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13

Some of you are wondering whether or not you ought to give your heart to Jesus Christ. You may ask, “What if Adrian Rogers is not right? What if the Gospel is not true?” Let’s suppose that what I believe is wrong—that the Bible is a bundle of blunders. Let’s suppose there is no God and that Christ never died for our sins. Well, you’re going to die anyway. So you’re no worse off. But suppose I’m right and you’re wrong. By coming to Jesus, you’ve got everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Now, it takes more than that kind of rationality to come to the Lord, but you need to do a little spiritual calculation. The Holy Spirit will prove to you that what I say is true.

  1. That’s not the good question sir… Everybody think that other are wrong and that they are right. I am right, you are wrong, and I am persuaded of it. The real question is “What if I am wrong?” Then the focus is not on others but on myself. That’s really the important question.
In may case, what if I am going to hell if I don’t believe in Yeshua/Jesus.
Your question: What if Jesus is not the G-d of the Hebrew Bible.
Would you like to start a friendly conversation to find out if you are right or not… And in the same time, that would give you the opportunity to share your believe with an unbeliever like me. Tell me what you think.

    • I get what you are saying, but Adrian turned the example on himself. 🙂
It matters not if I am right or if you are right – what matters is that God is right.
The God of the Hebrew Bible, the God of the Torah, the God of the New Testament – there is no difference, this is one and the same God.
I realize you previously believed in Christ and now do not, so I wonder if anything I say will matter to you. Nevertheless –
When God spoke in the OT – it was the voice of Jesus, not God the Father. John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. This would indicate as well that Jesus was always with the Father, not born on earth as a beginning and therefore not God Himself.
On the Trinity and the “oneness” of God – look at this way, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are but 3 different manifestations of the same “one” God. Even Jesus alluded to this in the Bible (John 10:30 I and my Father are one) although it is true there is no reference directly using the word Trinity. In John 10:36-37 Jesus says the Father is in Him, and He is in the Father, in effect claiming to be God. John 8:58 – Jesus claims to have before Abraham.
The “Word” was and is Jesus – God.
      1. A “word” is that by which we communicate our will; by which we convey our thoughts; or by which we issue commands the medium of communication with others.
      2. The Son of God may be called “the Word,” because he is the medium by which God promulgates His will and issues His commandments. See Hebrews 1:1-3.
      3. This term was in use before the time of John.
      (a) It was used in the Aramaic translation of the Old Testament, as, “e. g.,” Isaiah 45:12; “I have made the earth, and created man upon it.” In the Aramaic it is, “I, ‘by my word,’ have made,” etc. Isaiah 48:13; “mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth.” In the Aramaic, “‘By my word’ I have founded the earth.” And so in many other places.
      (b) This term was used by the Jews as applicable to the Messiah. In their writings he was commonly known by the term “Mimra” – that is, “Word;” and no small part of the interpositions of God in defense of the Jewish nation were declared to be by “the Word of God.” Thus, in their Targum on Deuteronomy 26:17-18, it is said, “Ye have appointed the word of God a king over you this day, that he may be your God.”

      Think on these as well:
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… Notice the text says usand our not I.
Genesis 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
It has been said those were mistakes, I don’t believe that for a minute.
The OT is littered with prophecies concerning Jesus (Messiah) coming, over 350 of them – they came true in the NT. Look this over:

As well, one has to remember that Jesus is yet to come one last time…
One last thing – read this post: https://inspirationalchristiansfortoday.com/2015/05/30/numbers-in-the-bible-yes-they-are-real-and-here-is-the-proof/

  2. “The God of the Hebrew Bible, the God of the Torah, the God of the New Testament – there is no difference, this is one and the same God.”
    That I disagree…
“I realize you previously believed in Christ and now do not, so I wonder if anything I say will matter to you. Nevertheless –”
I will try to be neutral. Can you be neutral?
The trinity is totally foreign from the Hebrew Bible. I don’t really believe the new testament, but would like to say that it could be debatable that there is a trinity at all in the whole bible. I talked a lot about the trinity in this team debate. It’s worth the read as you can see both Christianity and Judaism in the debate and decide which makes more sense. (This is part one only… Part 2 is on it’s way)

The “Word” was and is Jesus – God. The word comes from plato and stoicism. This was borrow by christians afterward. In the Hebrew Bible, the word, really means the word of G-d, not a mystic second person of the trinity.
    Genesis 1:26

“The OT is littered with prophecies concerning Jesus (Messiah) coming, over 350 of them – they came true in the NT. Look this over:”
Quantity of prophecies fulfilled by Jesus = 0.
    Check the debate.

    • If you do not want to be convinced you will not be. You seem to enjoy debating which is fine, but do nor seem to be looking for a reason to believe. God bless
      Greg

      • We have to be neutral and look first if he fulfilled the prophecies before we can accept him as messiah. That would be foolishness to worship a man who is neither god nor the messiah

        • I have already done that as I did not use to believe, I see no reason to do so again. I am firmly convinced that God is real, and that there is no forgiveness or salvation without Christ.
You speak of neutrality and yet are firmly on the side of Jesus not being divine, that He is not the Messiah. You hold to the Jewish point of view, and that is fine but I do not agree and never will. The Jews of Jesus time did not believe either. The evidence of Jesus being real and being what and who He said He was is enormous, in the Bible and other places. If you choose not to believe, then that is your choice, but you deny the Son of God at your peril. Those who do not acknowledge Christ – He will not acknowledge before His Father.
I wish you well, but I will not continue this debate with you, it is pointless – you seek to debate, not to be convinced. Your web site shouts loud and clear that you desire to debate God, but God is not a debate.
I see no true desire, nor a seeking of the truth about God. I see no real sense of worry that you may be mistaken, as I said I see a desire to debate for the desire to debate. I may be wrong but you are not looking to be convinced, you are already convinced that Christ is a lie.
I have prayed for you, but I am done with this conversation.

          • You might be right. I do have a hard time to believe in Jesus. But look at all the warnings to not worship another god in the Hebrew Bible. Jesus is the messiah only if he fulfilled some prophecies. This can only be verify if you put aside the New Testament and look at them without Bias. Did you accept Jesus before checking if the prophecies were actually true, or you accepted Jesus as your lord and saviour before checking them? If so, you are like many, judging the mater before you heard it.
