Far too much time is spent worrying about not “offending” people and the result is a lackluster Church
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Romans 13:11-12

(ICB) If you are easily offended, or not a fan of the truth, then stop reading right here.
Darkness, evil, the enemy, Satan, or whatever you want to call it or him – has gained strength. Things are not like they were years ago, there is a lot less “faith,” and by that I mean the genuine version of it. There is plenty of fake worthless “faith” out there, you need only look (and listen) around you.
The Church is asleep, yes there are people in the Church who are awake and God centered, but much if not most of the Church has fallen asleep. False doctrine, impure theatrical worship, bickering and jockeying for power, looking for fame and fortune, unbiblical management of the Church, directly accusing God of lying – these are the things that define much of today’s so-called Church.
There is a woke version of the Church, this Church allows gay and lesbian people to be pastors. This Church picks and chooses what they feel is true, and what is merely a story in the Bible. This Church is seeker friendly, going so far to bring people into the Church that they condone sin to do so. Things like a Church service or Bible study where beer is served, or the “pastor” uses foul language to blend in with the world. We are not to blend in with the world, we are to be set apart, to act in a manner that glorifies God – you wouldn’t know this by walking into many of today’s Churches.
Far too much time is spent worrying about not “offending” people and the result is a lackluster Church that has become unfamiliar with God’s Word. There is a reason that things are different today, and a big reason is the Church, or what passes for a Church anyway.
Pastors of old taught the Bible, if you were offended by what you heard in Church, well, TOO BAD!
Cheating on your spouse was a serious offense and brought shame, now it’s almost expected. Using foul language was not at all tolerated, period – today you can’t go out in public without hearing it. People were much more courteous to one another, not to mention helpful. If you wanted sex, you got married first, now one just takes home whoever looks good. Right and wrong were known and important, today these things are practically meaningless – if it feels good do it.
Church now-a-days is all about entertainment, and little about God’s Word and His desires for us. Worship is about showcasing someone’s talent rather than heart-felt spirit led worship of God, for the sole reason of worshiping the Lord who saves us and no other. Sermons are a watered down me-fest (and don’t forget the coffee and donuts) designed to make us feel good about ourselves instead of reminding us of Who our Father is and what He expects from us His people.
The Bible and the Church are not about making us feel good – these things are in place to educate, support, and mature us, with the end result that we become more like Jesus throughout our life as we move towards joining Him in Heaven.
Spend time in the Bible every day, worship the One who gave up everything in order to give you life.
Throw out the world, and welcome in Jesus Christ.
