We are not “maybe” saved, it is a done deal, immediately upon placing our faith in Christ

“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.”  Philippians 4:4

(ICB)  Even on the worst of days, there is reason to rejoice.  If we are the Lord’s, then we have hope.  Hope in the biblical sense is not at all like hope is thought of today.

In the Old Testament the Hebrew word batah and its cognates has the meaning of confidence, security, and being without care; therefore, the concept of doubt is not part of this word. We find that meaning in Job 6:20; Psalm 16:9; Psalm 22:9; and Ecclesiastes 9:4. In most instances in the New Testament, the word hope is the Greek elpis/elpizo. Again, there is no doubt attached to this word. Therefore, biblical hope is a confident expectation or assurance based upon a sure foundation for which we wait with joy and full confidence. In other words, “There is no doubt about it!”  (Source)

There is a huge difference between biblical hope and today’s hope.  Today’s hope is more like wondering if something is going occur while being anything but sure it will.  Biblical hope is much more akin to a guarantee, there is no maybe about it.

The Apostle Paul said to rejoice in the Lord, ALWAYS – not when you are feeling good, not sometimes, and not dependent upon circumstance, always, period.

Think of it this way, regardless of how your day is going, your life etc., if you belong to Jesus, nothing changes about Him, nothing, ever (Hebrews 13:8).
We are saved, immediately, now, not later.  This does not change with our circumstances.  Jesus is always with us, always interceding for us, always loves us, and is always ready to extend forgiveness to us.

If your “hope” is in the world, you have cause to despair, you will be disappointed.  If your “hope” is in Christ, you will never be disappointed.

So rejoice in the One who saved you, loves you, died for you, intercedes for you, desires you, adopted you, grants you strength, forgives you, grants you His righteousness, listens to you, includes you, and gives you grace and mercy.

Note when reading the Bible the particular phrasing of what is said.  I don’t mean the original Greek wording, although knowing these words has value – just the way that the verses are structured.  You will notice that a large majority of the verses in the Bible do not convey a sense of doubt, there is no maybe.  More like yes and Amen.

We are not “maybe” saved, it is a done deal, immediately upon placing our faith in Christ.  There is no “maybe” Jesus died for us, He did.  There is no “maybe” Jesus intercedes for us, He does, every day.  There is no “maybe” God will forgive us – He will definitely forgive us, but we have to go to Him and ask first.
